The cast were all brilliant. In terms of assisted suicide it's left me wondering what are we guarding against by keeping it illegal, please don't suggest that in every old couple one will become murderous and coercive. The other aspect for me is about rights and dignity and suicide itself stopped being a crime a long time ago. Pro- Choice!! As a thriller it's ok. As a view about true love it doesn't provide answers but suggests one true lost love which has to be romanticised poppycock. The view of old age in this looks awful and maybe it is.

The acting and cast is brilliant. The scenes are film like and visually stunning. initially I believed it to be a magical and interesting tale of women and love viewed through the lens of a different time but I had to stop watching before the 1st series ended. The violent abuse is gratuitous and much too hard to stomach. If you have experienced any trauma in your life then plenty of scenes within just the 1st series could trigger a response. Although we can appreciate how brutal life was back then, the targeted violence from Randell toward Jamie is unnecessary, too prolonged and is almost glamorised. Very disappointing for me☹️
