If you love Pride and Prejudice do not read this book. In my opinion it shows a complete misunderstanding of the original book and a weird, stilted, forced retelling of the love story I was looking for. The "modern interpretation" contains a transgender character, constant speculation about sexual orientation, a 'Bachelor' style TV show, and artificial insemination. But, rather than actually feeling modern it feels like hot button topics and words thrown into the story just so it can call itself modern. I cringed multiple times and one time said out loud "knock it off" while reading it.
