That was a rough one - I REALLY wanted to like this, but the shieldmaidens let me down. It was trying to do 10 different things which lead to a potentially awesome story being diluted to nothingness. The king was either an alien or superhero as when he touched people they died instantly which was very confusing. Speaking of confusing, some edibles must have been consumed in the editing room for the attack on Rohan because following that was an impossible task. Constant scene jumping with no clear indication on what is even going on here. And potentially the saddest part was that the audience was given no reason to like or relate to any of the characters. I could not find myself caring at all about what happened to anyone, even though I really wanted to :(

Nick plays a relatable character we can all see ourselves as - insecure but passionate, inadequate but desires social status. It's hard to not empathize as he gets absolutely screwed over by every single person in his life over and over. He is emotionally broken down through his journey to the lowest he can go. There are some fun themes here that are not so subtle tied in with corporate culture and how that screws over regular people with no regard. Definitely a great film, and fun to watch Cage play a dottering but passionate middle age caricature, which he pulls off perfectly.

It's true. This really, truly is the best game I have ever played hands down.

I'm impressed by how badly they managed to butcher this. They give us no reason or time to connect the characters, but even if they did it would be impossible to do so. They're written as flat, soulless plot devices and not actual people. Totally forgettable, totally underwhelmed.
