I enjoyed reading this book. I found it to be very well written, researched and presented. My only bone to pick with the book is the author’s sometimes assessment of particular events in history and what seemed to be a bias against the West at critical moments in history. The author commits this error several times, which distracts from the credibility of the material that is being presented. This historians job is to report events and substantive causes and outcomes from such events, not to judge whether specific events were ethical or not. Further, it’s not the historians job to present comparative ethics between civilizations, which the author does a few times in the book. Other than that, I enjoyed the book and recommend it for reading.
