Lackluster, formulaic and stilted. Anne Hathaway is a great actor but she rarely comes out and shows her talent in this bland film. She is so stiff and stilted except during the mega hot love scenes. The poolside scene is ridiculous, she is so worried about her perfect body that she covers it in a bag. In this film, she is skinny and with the benefit of plastic surgery, certainly does not look 40! She lets some teenage twits make her feel insecure after already showing herself as a sophisticated, confident art dealer. So shallow all of a sudden. Her ex-husband is just one note, acts the same in every scene. The film had potential, but I think the writers who adapted it from the book could not decide who their audience was and needed to allow the couple to have more screen time together that was more than leaping around, glamour shots or running away. Poor directing, editing and stilted acting made it a bore to watch.
