30 mins in and I'm irritated. Sophie's very acting school articulation and silly inflections are grating at my nerves. The acting from the rest of the cast is okay. Especially (Queen Charlotte actress) Quinn's Mum, but otherwise a very cheesy movie with Bridget Jones vibes (as someone mentioned) but without the comedy.

All I know is this had the potential to be a good series.....except for Paula Patton and her onscreen daughters questionable acting skills. I can forgive the young actress as she has time to gain more experience, but Paula spoiled this for me. Paula had 2 facial expressions throughout the whole series. Watch if you can handle bad acting and equally as bad wigs.

I laughed so hard I cried, this was absolutely hilarious. Excellent writing. I'll watch again when I need a good laugh.

All I can say is it's been a long time since I've watched a somewhat believable action movie and really enjoyed it. The casting was just right. Violence with a sense of reasoning behind it. Not too much glitz and glamour. A job well done.

Well it just goes to show that not even good actors can breathe life into a movie to make it at the very least watchable. Wouldn't waste your time, unless you have it to waste.

Gérard Butler carried this movie and I think he became as confused as I was as he kept falling out of his character's accent. The wife was just plain annoying, so very dumb but suppose to be smart, (acting skills may need a little work) losing your child and having conversations about the lost husband in front of people knowing that people wanted to get on the plane. 🙄 The boy was equally as annoying 🙄, he seemed to have many different personalities, all were annoying. He came across as quite brattish. Especially with that "I don't wanna fly anymore" line. Was this 'smart' boy really so silly that he couldn't see the devastation around him that his parents were trying to escape? So many children that could've acted the hell out of that role. Basic B movie which was massively disappointing. Did they really forget they were in danger when they were standing to watch the last meteor?? And seriously, with the flash backs to better days, (tut) behave. Chasing a plane in the car...really?! Very entitled family, like they thought everyone should cater to them. I didn't root for them at all, I just didn't care.

Absolute and utter rubbish! This movie made no sense, it had no real direction. The female lead was irritating as were the other main characters, well at least the consistent characters anyway as some were around and then disappeared. Don't waste your time with this.

2 perfectly good actors (Naomi and Jude) put to waste. I think the thing that irritated me the most is that Helen kept telling the daughters to hide and running off and leaving them in a place she didn't know and when she clearly had issues with strangers in this strange place.

I know the author of the book and some of the characters the book was loosely based on. I was disappointed at the adaptation of the book. I'm not sure if the screenplay writers read the book, but I know they weren't Jamaican so had no clue about the culture of that time. The accents of some of the actors were awful and distracting. There are great Jamaican actors young and older that could've absolutely brought what they were trying to do to life. Shontol Jackson is a great legit Jamaican actress though. I really feel that Idris did or allowed this film to be slaughtered where it had so much potential to be a classic years from now.
