You go in for a comedy expecting laughs. But I came out of this one giving away barely a chuckle.
Johnny lever's present-day character, as an English-speaking hotel manager, was bright and amusing, until it kicked in to the reincarnation avatar. All downhill after that baby!
Deshmukh and Bobby were wasted, with unimpressive characters and uninspiring performances. They were also not helped by the writing and seriously offered little relevance to proceedings.
Akshay tries the most to be funny, and it almost works. His medieval character could have been a blast, but is a victim to atrocious writing, jokes and screenplay. The hairdresser character is uneven and silly.
The three heroines were reduced to dancing and smiling at each other in awe of what they feel is a great impression created by the one or all of the three heroes. Kriti Sanon is half decent, the rest were just bad!
Chunky was just loud and repetitive. Too much of anything is bad, even pasta, with or without sauce!
The songs came in thick and thin to annoy at the oddest times. Rana, as Gamma, showed early promise, only to fizzle out in relevance towards the climax-from intimidating to silly by the time the credits roll.
At the end of the day, the low caliber writing and screenplay really beats the audience to pulp. I sincerely hoped to be entertained. I resisted from walking out only because I generally love Akshay's work; at least most of the times.
Prayer to the director- If one really has to make garbage, one ought to also make sure there is segregation at source. This ones all mixed, wet, and left to carry a solid stench!
It may make money and what people like me feel don't matter. but if there is a housefull 5 ever, it surely won't see me bother. I wish i had learnt my lesson with housefull 3!
