This movie was not at all good and didn't do justice to what it wanted to represent and attempt to speak about: Black Lives Matter movement. I'm someone who hated the book but saw elements of the book working with some finesse and translation to the legitimacy of Bigger's downfall. It never really delve deep into politics or even touched upon's Bigger's on trouble with Black Lives Matter, politics, or just his views in general of what it meant to be a black (punk) male in America. I wanted to so much to like it, but it simply didn't push hard enough for me to care for Bigger at the end.

slow burn - beautifully directed, the story unfolds poetically as a woman finding her place in the world. Make no mistake, I'm not exceptionally happy with the black people being the saviors in this story. But I'm happy how the wife redeems herself in the end and doesn't come off like a damsel in distress
