The environments are nice, the game is pretty to look at but I just don't find the fun in it really.
Quick note, I did a lot of grinding and was level 44 when I first fought Margit. That's actually not that high of level if you do some high value rune farming, I was only 7 hours in. So Margit is the first real boss in the game and even being boosted so high, it just... sucked? Like "oh wow I can barely damage him and he two shots me." That's supposed to be enjoyable? I got through him because of the summon and some luck.
There's also not really anything to do in the game. I'm just part way into Stormveil castle and I have to make the decision "do I keep attempting to get through" or "do I go grind more." And trust me, those are the only two options. Because you lose runes everytime you die and you have to manually recover them, dying over and over is actually counter productive because you don't make your character stronger. The most sure-fire way to make it easy is to be very over level. And here's the crux of the issue...
I hear alot of peoe say there's so much to do and interesting things around every corner but like, there just isn't. Ten hours into the game and besides roaming enemies and four side quests there's nothing to do. So I'm trapped in Limgrave grinding until I'm over powered enough to not have to bash my head into Stormveil over and over. Like, where's the fun in all of this?
If you like Fromsoft, more power to you then you'll love this. If you're iffy about Fromsoft--ie souls games--I've heard this is the best one to play as an introduction. If you're like me though, you'll regret spending the money and play just long enough to get some value out of it.
