We watch only non USA dramas and have for many years. This show was the most dissapointing story we have ever watched. The main actor has no range of emotion at all. She seems to not have memorized her lines as her eyes are constantly looking to the side when talking to other characters. Watch for that is actually creepy. The story is very slow to play out. Most of the actors are fine and do what they can with the slow plodding story. Besides the main story which is the crime and who done it there is a huge focus on racism and sexism. That could have been somewhat interesting but the main character who got the job because of her ethnicity immediately begins to go after her superiors when they question her abilities. Spoiler alert...she is so inept as an investigator that several people get killed because of her carelessness. 90 percent of the time she looks like she just ate something sour. Did I mention that to go after others in the department she does illegal warrentless searches? All of her evidence against the main boss would be inadmissable in court. Oh and of course the white guy big boss is a big sloppy milky white old guy. He is a bad guy obviously, not sure how in this day and age that guy would still be around. But hey its ok to ruin his life because of his feelings about the new reality right? Pretty much every other actor does a very fine job especially the criminals!

Apparently the screen writers can't do math. The so called Perry in this show is at least 45 and it is set a solid 25 years before the tv shows. So that makes the TV Perry at least 70? The appropriate age for the actor in this show would be 25. Everything about the film making and sets is very nice. Episode one has at least thrre events that were not neccessary, added nothing you the story and could best be described as grotesque. Who writes the ridiculous sex scenes? Probably best to forget the title and just think of it as an over the top 30's crime drama with plenty of gender and race swapping. Fear not though the bad guys will still be you know who.

There are some very good reviews here and I am enjoying reading them more than watching this season. A horrible waste of $35 and 10 hours. In just a few words my opinion of the story lines this year is that I'm now hoping the Daleks win. If the new Doctor had been an alternate universe Doctor that ran into Matt Smith or another Doctor and had several story lines I think that might have made an interesting transition. Some kind of story in the last season that set up the transition to a female Doctor might have at least given the fans a chance to think about it. I fell in love with Jody in another show that she was in, so wounded and vulnerable. For me it is just weird. Also in the past there was always a fellow Doctor with a woman as a companion and she was clever and strong and there was a sexual undertone. Why did they not have for this Doctor one companion fellow who was clever and strong with a subtle sexual undertone? Hum...
