This is so much more than a zombie movie and thinly disguised metaphor for the white man’s occupation of Australia. You really feel for Martin Freeman’s character as he struggles against tremendous adversity to save his baby daughter, exemplifying perfectly a father’s love and sheer determination to protect his family no matter what. Any parents of young children will probably end up with tears rolling down their cheeks (as we did)! Great to see a fantastic British actor getting out of the Hollywood bubble to star in this little Australian movie, set in wonderful outback scenery and with a strong indigenous vibe which gives every scene a unique twist on the zombie genre. This is a great showcase for Australian cinema and, most importantly, a really compelling movie.
