This movie has bright colors, lavish settings, and all the pizazz I expected from the “Sex and the City” franchise. The movie’s true undoing comes from the weak overall conflict and tone deaf depiction of the women they encounter in Abu Dhabi. The plot consists of a lot of “will they won’t they” moments with the women’s romantic relationships and predictable outcomes. Furthermore, during their trip, it was cringe worthy to hear the women say that the women wearing traditional burkas “did not have a voice” with holier than thou glances.
Ultimately, the over the top depiction of materialism, glamor, and the desire for perfection took away from a solid plot line. If you’re debating whether or not to watch this movie, ask yourself, “do I want a throw away rom com to help ease my mind on a Saturday night?” If the answer is yes, this movie is most definitely for you.
