I just finished watching KB2 and I'm about to re-watch right after posting up this review.
I'm frankly quite tired of seeing nothing but horrible ratings and reviews from self-proclaimed, mightier than thou film critics and even snooty audiences who think that all films should convey some serious message. The main objective of all cinema is to entertain and both KB and KB2 achieve that purpose so beautifully. It is pure teen drama that looks like it doesn't take itself too seriously. Behind that facade though, the movie (KB2 more so than its predecessor) shows the complicated emotions teens face and the often ardous journey of friendships and relationships that they have to navigate through. It tugs at your heartstrings, makes you reminisce and root for all the characters who have shown growth and depth in this sequel. Joey King, Joel Courtney, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Meganne Young are so incredibly committed to their roles. It feels as if you are travelling along with them and reliving your own teen heartbreaks, confusions and melodramas. Props to Jacob Elordi as well for being true to Noah Flynn even though his heart - as evidently seen in pre-release promos- was clearly not in it. He was pretty much absent from everything, except the movie. To Jacob, never forget what made you and catapulted you to international fame! Euphoria aint gonna do that. With KB you've got ardent fans from all over the globe.
So, the elitist critics can go ahead and pick apart and slam this film. It doesn't really matter because my heart, along with thousands of others, is with KB2.
