I love this show. Such an amazing, feel-good show. I love all the characters, except maybe Natalie Teeger. Sharona was amazing...fiesty, smart, independent, with a no-nonsense attitude. The show's creators made a mistake letting her go. They replaced her with an annoying character who is as subtle as a jack hammer; she works with a detective and with the SFPD but doesn't understand process, procedures, secrecy and the importance of being subtle. In the episode where Adrian takes up a temporary position as a security guard, she practically stands there yelling "you're the man." Then in the two-part episode where Adrian is on the run, this silly woman bursts into the police station asking to see the Captain and then hurries away to see Adrian against the Captain's advice, leading the bad guy to him. Of course, they needed a blonde bimbo character to mess things up. Reduced 4 stars to 3 only because of that bimbo! As the series progresses, Monk and Natalie become unbearable. The only character I like is the Captain. Randy is the same silly character from the beginning. The plots veer away from evidence, interrogation, and crime solving with most of the episode focusing on Monk's quirks. It gets a little tiresome and annoying. I would still recommend watching the series because it is light-hearted... and once you realise the character arch of each person and make peace with it... it's an enjoyable show...light entertainment.

I've watched this movie a zillion times... It is probably one of the silliest, most illogical, and cliched story ever...and I absolutely love it! Love, love, love it! Yeah, it's not realistic and yes, there are a lot of logical fallacies, but who cares?! Who wants another realistic, life-like story when we are already living it in real life. I don't mind the occasional escapism and vicarious happily-ever-after... Love all the characters. Tickles me quite a bit that Arthur - the sweet, forgetful, intelligent, knowledgeable, accomplished, and gentlemanly old man - in this movie, is none other than "the ugly" in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Now, how about that?! Haha... Definite must watch!

I'm shaking as I write this review. I just finished watching the movie on Prime. I read reviews of how difficult it is to watch and another reviewer who wrote they were so shaken that they had to sit down for a bit after leaving the theatre. I thought "well, how bad could it be? I've watched the Saw series." The movie is VERY DIFFICULT to watch. I'm glad I watched it at home and could mute it or fast-forward when need be. This movie is a powerful (although rather extreme and grotesque) depiction of the futility of beauty and fame. It shows how fleeting everything is and how lack of self-awareness, self-love, humility, and self-acceptance can ruin a person. The underlying themes are quite powerful in the message they send. It shows the delusion that modern-day beauty treatments give people. Demi Moore herself has undergone some work that makes her look odd. So, it's interesting she played this role. I wonder how Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley felt after they saw the final product. Both actors did an excellent job. The Substance reminded me of Death Becomes Her (Bruce Willis as the male protagonist) although rather dark and disturbing and extremely shocking in its visual effects, gore, and violence. P.S. - The next time I read that a movie is difficult to watch, I'm staying away from it. Just when you think you've seen it all, you end up being shockingly proved wrong. Here's to the apparently limitless human imagination...

"Madame" is not very representative of the story...I would think the movie revolves around the maid. But of course, the title does refer to the voice and perspective of a domestic worker. While some of the main characters (Collette, Palma, Keitel) did an excellent job, I must say the movie felt rather forced overall. The ending was rather abrupt, like someone forgot to add the final clips. But then, I realized we are so used to happy endings (no pun intended) or things neatly tied off, that we don't stop to think that in real life, that rarely ever happens. Towards the end, Smiley's character tells Hughes' character "everyone loves a happy ending...the hero runs...he kisses her in the rain...people love it." For a moment, I thought he might actually do that and I sat in anticipation... But, that's life. One has to give oneself closure. No happy endings, nothing tied off neatly with a bow. And I suppose that's what Maria does at the end as she walks away sadly, but then slowly starts smiling. I do wish though that it was an escapist movie and ended like Pretty Woman. Regardless of the grim realities of life, the heart is a sucker for happy endings. It's a one-time watch, if only for Rossy de Palma's acting and the wholesome character she plays.

Pretty decent movie. One of the few times I was routing for the villain. Excellent character background. However, sad that she was significantly dumbed down to match the hero's intellect and to well...make him seem larger than life! Typical Tamil movie (rolling my eyes). The little girl who played the younger version of Leela...her acting was leaps and bounds better than everyone in the movie put together. That girl had a few minutes' screen time...but man! Did she make her presence felt?! Amazing! A good movie... one-time watch.

This movie popped up in my recommendations several times, but I had this impression it was going to be rather dark and gory... similar to Rosamund Pike's Return to Sender or Katy Brent's How to Kill Men and Get Away with it. I avoided it and skipped past it all the time. However, one day I thought I felt strong enough to watch it and see what the hype was all about. The movie though was a pleasant surprise. It is dark, yes. It has a rather sad and depressing end, yes. But the main character isn't as sinister as the posters/trailer seem to indicate. How easy it is for us to think the worst! It was a refreshing change. However, one does walk away wondering if there's any man out there who could be trusted or who would stand up for what is right when it comes to women and sexual assault. Some of the scenes are tough to watch and triggering but unfortunately that's the sad reality.

Very predictable. Baffles me how this movie got such a high rating. Apparently Berry and Breslin were praised for their performances. Really?! Most of Breslin's dialogues is unintelligible. It's annoying listening to her constantly losing it and bawling. There's an intruder in the house. Anyone's first instinct would be to go hide. Why is the girl waiting for the 911 operator to tell her to hide? The movie also seems to portray the ineptitude of law enforcement officials. The girl is whispering into the phone. When the call gets disconnected, any person with half a brain would know not to call back. The story is interesting and a couple of other movies/series have explored this storyline. One that comes to mind is Cellular... although not a 911-based story. Disappointing, one-time watch. Switch on subtitles and mute Breslin's car trunk dialogues.
