Technical issues aside, this has been one of the most fantastic games I've played to date. I am far from a Resident Evil "fan boy", but have enjoyed some previous games from the series, particularly with the new first person route they've decided to take and moving away from generic zombies. Biohazard was fantastic and this has surprisingly surpassed it in every way. I would say, the father from 7 still gave a level of suspense that this game couldn't surpass, but 8 adds so much more to compensate.
The length of the game is fantastic, something 7 really lacked. The variety of enemies and their character designs is breathtaking. No copy pasting assets here, just brilliant. The game is challenging from start to finish, with incredible locations. The game visual design gives me serious Bloodborne vibes, which is a great thing.
I'd give this a 5 star, but with the technical issues I had trying to run this in 4k on PC with specs turned up, I have to give it a 4. I have always been frustrated by Resident Evil games failing to auto recognise screen resolution, and constantly opening in windowed mode instead. Controller support was challenging too, had to toggle settings in Steam. Audio issues too, lip syncing being way off, particularly on 4k. And game crashes on some loading screens, again, mostly on 4k.
