Unlike all these copy and pasted reviews from bots. I’m a real person, a real marvel fan of 40 years, and I’m here to give you the truth.
This film is pandering garbage.
Sorry, but it is. This film was written and directed more by marketing and legal than anyone else. And frankly yes it did all feel forced. Very very forced. Like shoved down my throat. Not because of Captain Marvel being female, didn’t care, that’s not my issue at all, (although I preferred the black Captain Marvel with the Afro, She was awesome.) No my issue was that it felt like this was an origin story that should have come out years before.
It felt as if the writers and directors painted themselves into a corner with Thanos and couldn’t figure out a way out of it without needing to pull in some “Superman” type figure to do all the big heavy lifting that the characters (which have had ten years to develop a relationship with viewers) couldn’t manage themselves.
Captain Marvel honestly left me with little real hope for Infinty War. I had kept hoping “finally we can break free of the origin story format and get on to the actual overall story arc.” Instead it seems this is just heralding the same old stories told the same old ways and shoved down everyone’s throats because what else are you going to watch?
I think from now on I’ll just be staying home and renting the MCU films when they come out. I’m not a cosplayer nor am I such a diehard fan that I need to see every detail of Nick Fury’s face.
