A great peek at small town life a full generation ago, that viewers will quickly see is best demonstrated by the purposely slow pace of the film. This focuses all attention on a small town's - and, really, any small town's - seldom large happenings, but often very large resistance to change. In this way, it becomes easy to recognize that while the pace of life is now far faster, people themselves have changed far less than we like to think. Most assuredly, it demonstrates perfectly that "all politics is local", indeed.
