Very dull drawings, well-drawn but very dry.
My problem is with the content. Perhaps this is just me coming from limited exposure to what type of content kids are exposed to, my son is 3 and we don't watch any television.
This book starts off okay, beaver/bear lost their hat and politely go around asking for it. Very repetitive but nothing new for a children's book. Then he comes across a rabbit that stole his hat, the beaver/bear realizes this and decides to exact his revenge and devouring the rabbit, proceeding to lie about the crime to the next animal.
So what can my child take away from this story? Even if you try to find something by proper means, people will lie to you and want to keep things to themselves. That's okay though because then you can just assert dominance via escalation and become a liar and criminal but it's justified because that's how the world is? No thanks, unfortunately we already purchased the books because of great reviews. So maybe I am alone in this view...
