I am astonished by all the glowing reviews for this film. From the start, when Gerard Butler's character receives the presidential, "this is not a drill," call on his phone telling him he and his wife and child have been selected for sheltering and his reaction being to still get all the party supplies and then saunter back to the neighborhood bbq at his house kinda, sorta thinking maybe something is up with the comet coming at the planet, I knew this movie was going to be one that drove me crazy with how annoyingly stupid the main characters are. In that respect, I was not at all disappointed. Add to the countless times I literally had to jump forward 10-20 seconds because the characters were making me so frustrated I wanted to smack my laptop, the lack of disaster visuals in this disaster flick plus the excruciatingly trite, overdone, eyeroll worthy dialogue and gag inducing "sentimental" family moments, and you have a very annoying, lackluster and frankly boring film. And I know it might not be pc to say this, but the kid in this movie was exceptionally irritating and not cute. At all.
