Nikka Costa is an overwhelmingly talented musician who is criminally underappreciated. This EP is a phenomenal & daring stab at synth-pop & other out-of-the norm genres for Nikka. "Pro*Woah" is kind of punk-ish, kind of metal-ish, kind of ska-ish. It sounds like The Runaways for the new millennium. Her song "Head First" has got to be one of the sexiest songs ever recorded, with her nod-to-Prince falsetto & come-hither phrasing. "Nylons In A Rip" is a little closer to the funk sound she is known for....but still has an industrial edge. "Stuff" has a great bubblegum bridge & is all about consumerism, but more so about trying to fix a broken heart by spending to temporarily forget the pain. "Chase The Thrill" sounds perfect for a James Bond flick & "Never Wanna See You Again" holds it's own in Nikka's arsenal of relationship essays. Open your mind & forget what you've been trained to think is good.... Nikka Costa's "Pro*Woah" EP is a glistening sonic gem that awaits you.
