Giving benefit to the Director (Om Raut) , assuming there are two fundamental differences he kept in mind while directing this film
1) Ramayana with CGI effects - which off course its not , as the film disclaimers clearly called out that the film is inspired by Ramayana, and not a dramatic representation of the epic. So i would not criticise the film for being not even closure to the epic that we all read in our childhood.
2) A fictional story influenced by Ramayana- While the CGI effects were good, However when you have a film inspired by a Great epic , the director should have kept in mind the fact that the expectations the viewers will have from the film, the film starts with Ram taking on some sort of “Rakhasas”, looking alike you are in level 5 of some CGI games . The director didn’t have a clue which milestone is important and which is not in the epic. As The Sharvari incident was given importance but Lakshman fighting Surpanakha was superficial.
Prabhash did not just fit in the character of Rama, he could be either Bhima, in our mind Rama was an Aryan and has sharp features.
Saif has done justice to his role.
