If you liked the first game because of its story, this game will disappoint you. Its not a bad game, but the first one was a master piece, this is more like a sequel to Uncharted or a repetitive game like the modern Tomb Raider. If you like those games, you'll like this. The director should have hired a writer. He's not that great, those heart wrenching moments like when Sarah dies, or when Joel decides to continue taking care of Ellie in the first game do not exist in the second game. It feels like what some one in high school would think is a good story. The director also doesn't seem to have any type of film background or knowledge, making a character say "Im scared" or "Im sad" doesn't make the player feel that way. Those things are built through a cinematic language that this game doesn't have. Im sure some players will like the game. I just think that the director should have stepped out of the way and helped find someone with talent. Theres nothing really new about it, the mechanics are reused and its more like a very long side mission. A lot of the backlash for this game is because of complete and utter disrespect for the original content. And although that also got under my skin, im really just upset at the fact that a person with a less than impressive resume get their hands on directing and writing the Last of Us 2
