Rushed ending, hugely underdeveloped. The original surrealism ending would’ve been better; but they clearly lacked the budget when the English financiers pulled out. The rationalist “twist” could have worked but Osmund’s character development happened too much off screen. For it to get such good reviews makes me wonder where the producers got the money to bribe journalists and why they didn’t invest it in a longer shooting schedule. Great actors, clever plot and a dark setting but not put to any good use.
