Best: the chemistry between the old, dying scientist and the little girl. It worked very well.
Good: Excellent cinematography of the Arctic as well as the spaceship, outer space, and Jupiter's moon. Very well done. Sully and Tom(?) being the next Eve and Adam - good diversity there; Sweet Caroline, always good for a sing-along.
OK but predictable: The spaceship crew having to make life or death decisions and calculations quickly. Expected but ok.
Bad: Same old, dying scientist swimming under Arctic ice without any ill effects; a black character being the one that gets killed off (I called it as soon as she was going to be part of the spacewalk...with asteroids periodically bombarding the ship...duh, easy call). No one did the "Bum bum bum" part of the sing-along. Really?
Inconsistent plot hole: Catastrophic "event" that was somehow predictable (eg, a ship searching for a new livable world, evacuation vehicles available) yet not enough for NASA to have let the space crew know anything about what was going on. Not even pre-recorded emergency beacons at multiple waypoints? The implication that we did this catastrophically could not have been climate (would have been a more gradual and the astronauts would have known/expected it), so that leaves nuclear (survivors living underground). But if it were nuclear, why was the ship looking for a new world to inhabit? That implies it was climate...it is just inconsistent. (OR BOTH? Hmmm 🤔). Ok, that's worth an extra (half) star. Otherwise 2.5 stars.
