The show itself is ok but the glaring political agenda of the people who cast this show is at the forefront all the time. If you look at the crew, they have ONLY cast minorities. Now I’m all for equality but this show is a perfect example of social justice/agendas gone wild. It’s clearly a crime to be a white heterosexual male, despite the audience of Star Trek being predominantly of that demographic. The ONLY white male on the show is a gay albino dude and they just introduced a new female (well the actress is female) character, but of course she is “gender neutral”. For that matter, theres only 2 white females, 1 is a chunky redhead woman and they make her act like a fool, the other is another gay woman. I watch fantasy shows to ESCAPE real world politics and issues. There are so many horrible things happening daily in real life I don’t need or want TV producers ramming agendas into sci fi tv series that I used to love. Writing and casting a show specifically to highlight minorites doesn’t make you a good person and it doesn’t help minorities in the least. I bet the people that wrote/cast this show wouldn’t throw water on a homeless person if they were on fire. Just write the show, and cast the RIGHT actor/actress. I don’t care what the characters sexual orientation, gender, race or creed is. Casting and writing characters deliberately to be certain race/orientation is inherently racist/discriminatory in itself. Why is it important a character is gender neutral? They only mention it once, it literally adds nothing to the story or character. Why does it matter if they are gay? Or straight? Or white/black/male female? The answer is it doesn’t. If it is going to be a part of who the character is at least write it well, don’t just throw in 1 liner in an episode, write it into their story properly.
