Wonderful book! Ms. Brewer shows a different face of slavery and the lives of African Americans in the antebellum South. You will meet Fannie, a freed black woman who is a doctor and good friends with the main character Lizzie. This novel takes a look at some issues not often discussed in history books or settings. Great piece of historical research and work!
