I absolutely loved these games. Sure, they had their flaws, like no mega evolutions, no new palkia and dialga forms, plus other things they could've added or improved. But theres never been a perfect pokemon game, and I honestly really loved this new artstyle they chose for the games. It was a nice change of pace from your typical main series game and it looked very clean for the most part. Being able to experience diamond and pearl again the same way it was 15 years ago in a more updated version had a great charm to it. Also I think following Pokemon and character customization really added to it, even if it was somewhat limited. And getting rid of the old outdated pal park feature and replacing it for Ramanas Park was a great addition as well. Digging for shards and working towards getting your favorite legendaries from generations 1-3 was probably the most satisfying way of obtaining legendary Pokemon. Plus the grand underground revamp, with hidaways and statues was super fun and I liked that you could experience it simultaneously during the story and find statues of your favorite Pokémon. Along with shiny statues, which makes digging for them even more exciting. These statues also have purpose unlike the original furniture from gen 4 and gives an incentive to spending your time digging in the underground. On top of that, adding Giratina back was a great thing too. Along with battling the level 100 shadow origin form version in Ramanas park served as a great challenge. This game felt genuinely challenging and difficult to complete even while having forced exp share, and Cynthia and her garchomp were as difficult as ever. I enjoyed every second of the experience and would 100% recommend others to buy.
