Best F4 to date. Interesting concept in challenging us to consider a version of the 1960s without Civil Rights Movement, social unrest, the Cold War & Vietnam or the Counter-Culture. FINALLY an Absolutely flawless physical GALACTUS, though I would have prefered a more organic voice after Josh Brolin's performance as Thanos. (Perhaps something along the tone of a deeper Leonard Nimoy if not Idris Elba's Heimdall of Asgaard). I was glad to see a Reed Richards who wasnt wimpy but managed the burden of leadership, fatherhood and his commitment to humanity. I enjoyed a still youthful yet subdued Johnny who took being a superhero more seriously with no interest in being a celebrity. This version of Ben Grimm was less brooding & more comfortable in his orange skin. Most importantly, Sue wasn't quite a feminist, but definitely empowered as an Equal in the team as well as in the marriage. Pregnancy & motherhood didnt require her to stand down, but made her more of a force even when she wasnt using her powers. The Female Silver Surfer was a slight letdown because she needed more to do (missed opportunity). Visually, she was like a chrome clone of Mystique from the Xmen Movies right down to the haircut. I hoped the gender switch would matter more in the storyline so it would resonate more strongly in the climax when the Surfer has to make a crucial decision (but maybe that was the point). A mostly forgettable performance that lacked the inner conflict, sensitivity & conviction Laurence Fishburne brought to his Surfer. The voice was too young and didnt carry the weight of a reluctant enslaved herald of Galactus who had helped facilitate the destruction of billions, if not trillions of lives and was callled upon once more to repeat the deed. Other layers, metaphors & and allegorical references abound but I've said enough. Dont want to spoil it for anyone. Go see it!
