The only reason it gets two stars is because of Negan. My God this is Fear the Walking Dead bad. The very first scene was stupid. (Spoiler) Maggie is in New York alone, sees a group of walkers and lays under a bridge to hide from them. After they pass she continues to lay there never looking back as a walker crawls up behind her. Of course she never hears the walker sliding across the pavement until it has her. She then looks surprised, wrestles with it and proceeds to repeatedly bash the walker in the head with a spotting scope until she pulverizes it's head and then let's out a long blood curdling scream. Apparently the group of walkers that had just passed didn't hear any of that because they never returned. Roll opening credits...
Maggie is tracking down Negan to help her get her son back but she now hates Negan all over again and doesn't trust him. Despite asking for Negan's help, she continues to treat him like the last 12 years or so of them living together at Hill Top, where Negan was constantly saving her life and trying to prove himself to her never happened. In the episode Negan saves her life twice more and she still treats him like he's the enemy instead of the guy she tracked down because she said he was the only one who could help track down the man who has her son. I know Negan killed Glen 15 years ago but the I'll never forgive you but constantly ask for your help got old several seasons ago in The Walking Dead and it's worse now than it was following Glen's death. They also apparently thought if we make this show with even more gore than the original it will be better. No it makes it look cheap and dumb. The writing is lazy and nonsensical most of the time. One minute the slightest sound will attract walkers. The next, sound doesn't seem to matter. Then you have this "Marshal" from New Babylon who is tracking Negan and is now tracking Maggie because she is with Negan. His character is beyond lame and again very lazily written. I can already see most if not all of at least the first season will consist of him nipping at their heels (btw, try as he may the Marshal isn't that intimidating)It's like the whole show was written by 7th graders or written for 7th graders. I've got so much time invested in The Walking Dead and felt I needed to watch the spinoffs for closure for the characters, but this is going to be difficult if it doesn't improve. Maybe if the writers and producers had been content with the original Walking Dead and put the money and resources into the original instead of making a half dozen spinoffs, then the quality and writing in the show would've continued to be popular with the fans. Instead they wanted to chase more profit by thinking lightening would strike over and over with each iteration and make them even more money. What happened was the spinoffs were horrible and the original that everyone loved went from great must see tv to mediocre and then to, meh...
