good chemistry between lee byung hun and cho seung woo. the plot is pretty average but these two onscreen are wonderful to watch

I've gone back over and over again through the years to this drama, and it's always so satisfying. This show is actually one which fleshed out the problems for a chaebol-average person loveline very well without going dramatic about it. Jae In and Dada are very level head characters who just could not help falling in love. I read a lot of people hating on the male lead, but I kinda think it is a generational gap. The newer dramas have this all too good, ideal, sweet, soft boy going on, but I think that will also just be a phase and the male leads will continue to evolve. I'm used to much more rude (and worse, idiotic) male leads who were considered hot 20 years ago, so Jae In is actually nice by those standards. I love that he's hot headed instead of being boringly cold. He's not a romantic, he's very business driven, he's stubborn, but at the same time, he learns. Just like every human being, he had preconceptions about how the world works, but he's not inflexible and he adjusts to his new discoveries. I love that he changed his attitude towards love in a way that was not dramatic. He changed his decisions and not his personality. When he realized that love is a force he cannot reckon with, he immediately joined its cause and decided he'll bulldoze his way out through every obstacle to be with Dada. I love that about him.

there are a lot of good ongoing dramas and this is the best among the sep-nov 2021 lot. downright hilarious. ep 1 can be a bit boring because of the exposition so if you dont want to be discouraged and end up missing on a wonderful drama, I suggest, just jump right into ep 2 and enjoy! this is a classic entertaining romcom. not flashy, not trying to be too innovative in direction, writing or characterizations. plot is fun and never gets too heavy. protagonists always gets the upper hand so audience wont feel sad or scared. everything is so simple, yet everything works. magic! well, lee hanee is the magic. I wonder if something this simple could have worked with another actress, coz hanee just plays this perfectly. I wish I could say more about her, but you just have to watch her. Others: the female villain is nuanced so you understand her. even if you know she can't be redeemed, there is still something relatable about her struggle. I said everything is simple in this drama, well, except for this villain. she's very sophisticated. the actress plays her awesome, she has compelling motivations and my favorite lines are those of the male lead directed at her (they're very clever, they are praises to her character but given her attitude and how much she hates her situation in life, they become very painful insults) this is populated with cliche characters, but for some reason, they are very toned down and blend well with the overall atmosphere so they are not annoying. i think that is the power of lee hanee. she just shines over everyone, so even their annoying flaws are masked. story also does not stay too long with them, unlike other dramas where such characters are usually used as fillers, here, they show up for their necessary bits and nothing more. so you know that the writer has ample ideas for the main story. in fact, I actually want more of the side characters (this is very rare coz I have the fast forward syndrome) coz we know so little about all of them. the weakest link for me so far is the male lead. I like him but there is something missing. I don't know if it's the actor or the character that is the problem, or maybe he's just getting overshadowed by the awesome female characters. maybe I'm not convinced that someone as cool as yeon joo would fall for him. still, he's an eye candy, so not a big problem - edit - male lead has finally risen up. han seung wook is rich, kind and very sweet, but it really is lee sang yoon's good looks that is the convincing factor. sang yoon has finally turned up the charms ep 10 - 11 and man, he could be yeon ju's antagonist here but I would be convinced yeon ju would still fall for him when he flashes that boyish smile

nam goong min really carries this drama. he has a james bond appeal wherein you wont really care about the plot, you just watch it because of the charisma. I'm not a rabid fangirl and I dont even find him attractive in this because he's too big (seen him in other dramas where he's leaner, and he's very good looking in those), it's the gravitas of his performance. he's fun to watch coz you want to understand him but there is this nagging sensation that there simply isn't anything there. he looks very heavy but also very empty inside. plotwise, I think it might already be falling apart, so if you're into puzzle soving, I have a feeling this might not be for you. but who knows, scriptwriter might actually be a genius in the remaining 3 episodes. but if you just want to get sucked into a very intense atmosphere, escape into a heart palpitating tour away from real life, just play this in your screen and get lost for an hour :)

Very surprised by this series, was not expecting it to be good. Kdramas are really mastering idea-driven series (vs the western plot driven ones), and this drama is a good example of that. Side stories are set ups to drive ideas and they executed them very well. I also love that they did not force conclusions to these side stories, once the point is made, they left them alone (true to a quote within the series, a bad event follows a good one - a cycle. So the side characters may have had it bad but they can rise again, and vice versa, their endings are not within the scope of the series). High school boy is the heart of the story, how can you be so pure and wise, baby boy? The high school storyline was so well executed - moving and realistic (i really love him, when I was just seeing this drama in my feeds, I thought, oh, another new actor --- but the character and portrayal is bewitching, I might actually google his name later haha) So far, I love all nam ji hyun dramas I've seen, girl knows how to pick the good ones. Weakness is world building. I wish we saw more of song ji hyo and her supporter's life, mechanics of the magic like how prices for wishes are picked, who the other witch is... so many curious things left unexplained. But they are small things. Less is more kinda works as it kept the mystery and we are not burdened with underwhelming explanations. The main witch and supporter are loveable despite the very little info we have of them. And there is enough material to explore for a season 2? Hopeful Watch watch this if you want to be inspired and feel hopeful :)

Great great great. All romcom lovers should see this atleast once. Han Groo is a special person who needs to come back to acting, she's loud but never annoying in this, absolutely charismatic. She stands out, but there is very good acting all through out the cast here. The mothers too, all three of them are delightful! The writing is superb, how one incident leads to another is seamless. The themes are very well interwoven. The preachiness is uttered by Jang Mi's character, so it does not feel preachy at all, just your regular opinionated girl who loves to blabber. The issues brought up are serious and heavy but are all bouyed by the comedy and fantastic acting. Characters did not change but instead found a way to understand each other without losing themselves in the process. The direction and editing is well executed, no boring scene on screen (I did forward the 2nd male lead's scene, but I just hate him for personal preference). Honestly though, I want more sweet scenes with the leads falling in love but this is a show with time constraints, so it's understandable those would have to be sacrificed for plot movement. But the chemistry is awesome, the audience would definitely be left craving for more. (Regular kdrama watchers might be put off by the western style of dating in the drama, but it shows the maturity of characters. People here value compatibilty ahead of what their partner's pasts are. I've seen comments on how the female lead kissed all three males and I must say that it only highlighted that a great personality cannot be tarnished by the insignificant detail of how many past relationships you've had. Jang Mi is great, and it will always be the man's loss to let her go. Gi Tae is also awesome in that he does not only not care about Jang Mi's past but is also not threatened by Jang Mi's current suitors. He knows he is a catch and he knows he and Jang Mi fit well together and most importantly, Jang Mi's parents love him - the theme of the drama is to show that a marriage concerns not only two people but their whole families as well). (Yeon Woo Jin also looks good, tall, slender, cheeky... very yummy haha). I love love this show.

I am rating it a 4 even if I am very disappointed, because it is still better than the average kdrama. Problem is the 1st 6 episodes are perfect that your expectations are set so high. 1-4 dealt about philosophical questions in the context of love and they were very promising. 5-6 were very cutesy, top tier romance material. 7 was very anticlamactic but was still saying something in the end. I dont understand 8-13, someone help me understand those episodes! 14 has rebounded with all the beautiful lines again, I can even ignore all the logical inconsistencies of 8-13. This series has a very good foundational concept and really strong characters, the plot details are just frustrating. If they sell this to tv in different countries, I suggest to re edit this, tighter and cut to 10 episodes, heck, if they have enough budget, get someone to rewrite the details of 8-13, I think this should really be fixed a bit and it will be an awesome piece of tv. Having said those criticisms, I want to add that I love what I find to be the underlying theme of the story, which is the Deity's selfless love. The romance is just the vehicle to sell this as a romcom. I believe that this drama is a love letter to God. One would think that having been the willing bearer of death and pain for mankind, that the Deity can give no more. But the Deity showed that there is no limit, that in the emptiness resulting from her giving and giving, she can still pull one more thing. She created Myul Mang to accompany her but Myul Mang was unhappy in his existence. How terrible it must feel that your creation, your child, your most precious, is miserable. Dora (as the fandom calls her) had to let go of Myul Mang to make him happy. Dora cannot make humans, that is why it took her a while to transform him. One can only speculate what deal she had to make with Fate to grant her his human existence. In the end, letting him go is her ultimate sacrifice. Amidst the pain and sickness and certain death lies her constant eternal loneliness.

the awkwardness sold me on this. squirming out of second hand embarrassment is therapeutic. then the gradual transition to giddiness is also really enjoyable I have finished EP 6 now and I don't know if this will still be interesting now that they have gotten more comfortable with each other. We'll see. oh, and this is about music, but the visuals are really beautiful. it's not so much the scenery but rather the placement of the characters and the feelings conveyed in the frames (mostly awkward too!). there are so many scenes that are worthy of being desktop backgrounds, i couldn't choose
