Its pretensions of forward-thinking about cohabitation aside, this is a conservative series with cheap, double-entendre larded, hugely-abominable screenwriting. Overall, this series is an EXCRETION.

I had heard good things about this series but I'm embarrassed to say that it blew my mind. Very clever writing.

Although there were more satisfying ways to account for the events in retrospect, the conclusion was riveting and on several levels made "psychological" sense. The photography and Philip Glass' score stood out, but the story was the story. Very good.

Very simply, the best war film I ever saw. It covered the detailed minutiae, the personal choices, and the epic sweep in both agony and grandeur. Superb.
