Boy's Choir , is a welcome departure from the run of the mill crap that passes of for Cinema. A deeply moving film. It tells a story. Years ago the Vienna Boys Choir performed in Bombay, I was one of the many , blessed to have patronised the performance. Saw, Born to Sing, as well. Ah...... wasn't that lovely!!! And Mr. Hoffman, he can play Piano as well.

Saw the Film in the early 70s, at the New Empire Theatre just outside Victoria Terminus in what was then called Bombay. FABULOUS, is an understatement, the Film can boast of brilliant direction. Edward Fox, wins over the viewer with a slick performance. Yours truly, was a tad disappointed to see this Scarlet Pimpernel of sorts, finally meet his match. It was an evening, well spent and I felt richer for the experience. It is sad to see the rubbish that is passed off for Cinema today, which begs the question, where have all the Story Tellers, gone.

Tom Hanks, as usual, plays his part to perfection, but it is Mark Ryland, whose performance is nothing short of brilliant. Criminal on my part to have taken so long to view this Gem of a film. A Speilberg classic all the way, that delves into some of Germany's darkest times immediately after the war. The stark contrasts between East and West so very poignantly portrayed.
