Very funny show with lots of laugh out loud moments. Not all the show is about laughs though as there is a dark underbelly to life in both London & Australia’s Newcastle. There are very sad moments which are juxtaposed with comedic moments. Language is pretty rough so not for the prim and proper. I love the show and I have found the characters to be endearing. The only questionable character to me is Fairbanks, the policeman in season 2. He comes across as a caricature of the bumbling policeman, which doesn’t ring true. I have seen this actor in many dramas, including Janet King, and he was excellent. I am not sure if comedy is his forte, but it is possible the idea of the bumbling policeman is too cliche, and that is the problem here.

Very dark; very funny but incredibly moving at times. The last two episodes of season 1 were so funny. Very Fargo-like. Ray is so ‘real’: the way he treats his daughter and his brother is delightful and touching, respectively. I love the ordinary conversations that occur in this show. They remind me of the conversation that John Travolta et al had around the table. But no one wants to get on Ray’s bad side. Please let there be a season 3.
