Jonski Jogazi – Google

Surprisingly great series! I was doubtful of how they'll handle the complications of the Moon Knight character, and even more so after finding out that the writer was also responsible for the last Fantastic Four mess of a movie. Fortunately, it all seems to have come out quite well. They managed to satisfactorily translate and condense the character's 40 years of comic book history into a 6-episode series, with the potential to even go further should they wish to have a season 2 or movie tie-in somewhere down the line, of which, I'm very much looking forward to given how well done this show is. More of Moon Knight please!

I loved this film, and I understand why a lot didn't. It was sci-fi heavy and in this day and age a lot of that really flies over a lot of people's heads. But if you loved them old Star Trek pre-Discovery era, and that little old movie called 2001: A Space Odyssey, and any work by Arthur C. Clark, and you're also into them Assassin's Creed games - then you're definitely going to appreciate, and maybe also love, this MCU installment.

If your introduction to thrash metal is Metallica or Slayer, then chances are you won't like this album. AT FIRST. Belladonna's vocals just sounded out of place amidst Ian's ultrafast riffage and Benante's blast tempos. The musicianship and songcrafting are superb though, and is what keeps you listening despite the wailing "unthrash-y" vocals. Then after keeping it in the background for a while, it all just suddenly CLICKS. The guitars, the drums, the VOCALs - they all start to blend into this sonic concoction worthy of fist pumping and slam dancing. And then you start to appreciate and understand Belladonna's place in it. By mid-tracks "S.S.C./Stand or Fall" and "The Enemy", his vocal performance really peaks and the entire album almost reaches levels of prog/power metal glory before Queensryche took the sound and made it pedestrian. This album earned them a spot in the big four. The next album they release two years later cements them into it.

Far from the sound of death metal we know today, but this was THE death metal sound back in 1985. What else would have people back then called it? It didn't fit quite snugly into the Thrash Metal category, though you can hear hints of it. The vocals were too incomprehensible to be likened into the same vein as Metallica or Exodus. They did almost sound like Slayer though, but somehow more evil than anything Slayer had put out at that time (we were still a year away from Reign in Blood). So a new metal genre was born - Death Metal - taken directly from the album's last track. Given that logic though, it amazes me how we didn't end up with a genre called "Exorcist Metal" instead - it was certainly the best and most celebrated track in the album. Imagine if that would have been the case: every band from Cannibal Corpse to Morbid Angel would be called "Exorcist Metal". It certainly wouldn't be a misnomer. But the real reason "Death Metal" stuck is because of another band that released their debut album in 1987, legitimizing the sound that Possessed started here.

This is where we start hearing the signature Slayer sound. What stands out is how the level of musicianship greatly improved from Show No Mercy which was just released two years prior, especially Dave's drumming (he definitely started putting Gene's tips to good use here). Just listen to "At Dawn They Sleep" for what I'm talking about. Another standout track: Kill Again - definitely a contender for what an 80s Thrash Metal song should sound like.

I'm hearing lots of reference to "Resolution". Though I haven't watched that yet, this movie I think stands good enough by itself, and looks like that's what the film makers intended anyway. A very well thought out film I would say. Not really groundbreaking for me, but they were able to do the most with what they had. And I agree with many who say that the acting chops of the two leads fit really well with the material. A very well-picked cast as well. Definitely worth watching for any sci-fi fan - the type who's into more through-provoking material than flashy visuals and spectacle.
