A poor attempt to re-write history to be politically correct and throw facts out the window. The view that the "Lost Cause" is the way everyone views the American Civil War and that the world has forgotten about Grant today are the most absurd things I have ever heard in a time when most are trying to take down Confederate statues and wipe the real history from the history books because it is not pc but real....that is what is tragic to those who enjoy real history. There are countless reasons, Robert E. Lee, not Grant, is viewed by most as the better military tactician....yes, the Union Army won but the lack of manpower, industry, finance, supplies, etc. from the start of the Civil War is what doomed the Confederates. If you want great military tactics, look at what the Army of Northern Virginia did throughout the war, including to Grant until they just ran out of everything. Better yet, do a series on Nathan Bedford Forrest, whom actual contemporaries on both sides called the "greatest tactician" the Civil War produced (I doubt you will because he wasn't even mentioned in your Ft. Donelson segment).
So, when is the History Channel going to do a series on Robert E. Lee? I guess it would take a 10 season show for Lee and the A.N.V.'s military successes and accomplishments rather than a 3 two-hour mini-series. Trying to make Grant out as the military tactician that Lee was is like trying to prove Ancient Aliens and that there is still gold on Oak Island. Lets try and bring some real history to the History Channel in the future.
