I see the REAL story in this movie. It’s a real life issue for young girls who have no parents home, uninterested parents, disconnected parents or anything other than a mother and or father home actually paying attention. This showed how our young girls are left to ‘parent’ themselves.. Amy for instance had to watch her younger siblings, and also stay in a bedroom with her little brother all because of ‘grown-up’ issues (her fathers new wife). That wasn’t her fault. She is a victim of circumstance. Then her friends, whom treated her so badly in the beginning, clearly had no safe haven at home, including the friend that had her mother show face for one scene. I can not for the life of me understand how people could think this movie was anything other than a learning tool. Parents have to teach their young girls how to be ladies. As you can see in the movie, little girls should NOT have access to a phone with internet, where they can see and do anything. And Amy would’ve never known about the extreme dancing she did, had she not had a phone. True she stole it, which isn’t good either, but as a young girl pressured to care for her siblings, she felt that was an outlet for her to be ‘Free’. Parents just need to be more hands on with their children and have open communication so that these type of things aren’t presented to them with no idea how to handle them.. I applaud this movie. In the end, Amy understood the error of her ways, and came home to play ‘jump rope’ as a child. The trailer was poorly executed but it was still a good movie. It just showed us how REAL sexual content is so easily accessible to our youth.
