There was nothing new or revealing in this book. His theory of cycles is artificial and oversimplified. And his prescriptions for future policies are both vague and obvious.. It is not enough to say that we should have policies to cure a problem. It is necessary to define those policies also. For instance, it is of no value to say that we should have policies that generate enough food to end World-Hunger. You must define the policies that will accomplish the end. Otherwise, it is just empty words . Friedman's book doesn't offer any concrete suggestions - just a verbose definition of the way he would like America to develop.
