As a long-time fan of the Dragon Age series, I find myself quite disappointed with this latest installment. It lacks the essence of what makes Dragon Age special, and even when viewed as a standalone game, it feels rather average. I’d recommend waiting for a discount before considering a purchase, if at all. It seems the developers aimed to appeal to a broad audience, but the result is a lackluster blend of elements from DA2, God of War, and Hogwarts Legacy.
Narrative Depth: The story fails to engage, offering little connection to previous entries in the series. You find yourself playing a generic character with no ties to the rich lore that fans cherish.
Companions: The companions feel uninspired and poorly designed. Even the familiar faces have lost their charm, seemingly stripped of their memories and personalities. Additionally, customization options are minimal, and you can't actually play as them—just use their skills in battle.
Dialogue: The writing lacks the immersive quality expected from a fantasy setting. Conversations feel out of place, diminishing the sense of being in a richly crafted world.
Linear Gameplay: The game is excessively linear, both in its storytelling and level design, leaving little room for exploration or discovery.
Combat: The shift to a God of War-style combat system feels misplaced. After a few hours, the combat becomes repetitive and uninspired, lacking the innovation that fans of the series have come to expect.
Choices: Are not existing. What you say does not matter at all in that world.
Artstyle: Out of place. Feels like someone wanted to make a different game.
