We all look for things in life, whether it may be a lost sock jumbled within the rest of the washing, inevitably separated from its rightful pair or a cheap Airbnb for $85 that can be used at the youths disposal to relentlessly party all night long till the sun peaks at the horizon. Richard is someone we most definitely do not look for. Someone who has been left in the deepest darkest pits of modern-day literature. The timeless hero of theatrical performances, Al Pacino in his satirical docudrama Looking for Richard intrinsically reframes psychological aspects of the human condition within the renowned play-write, William Shakespeare’s historical tragedy King Richard III. I am no critic nor do I have the mental capacity of translating 16th-century views to today’s modern (overly sensitive) world but I believe Pacino rightfully created a piece of art that can be understood and appreciated by not just literature scholars but all of humanity.
