To put it lightly, this is the first book I’ve read in a very long time. I convinced myself I didn’t enjoy reading well before adulthood; I realize now that’s not the case.
While I could probably nitpick and criticize the book as I’m sure others do, there’s one thing this book makes you do that I don’t think anyone can argue if you gave the book a fair shake. It makes you think, contemplate life, reconsider why you do things. In many ways, I felt as if he was speaking to me. Telling me obvious facts of life I already knew but refused to embody and act upon.
I decided to read Peterson’s book while listening to one of his many interviews, as I’m sure is the case for you if you’re reading this review. To consume his philosophy through a more long-format medium instead of combing through many interviews asking the same questions. It’s well worth it. Whether you agree on every point or not, say “duh” to many of his recommendations or not, he’s written this book to help. It genuinely helped me. It may do the same for you. 5 stars.
