When I first read the book, I realized this wasn't the best book. The writing feels like it is written by Gordy (the protagonist), with mediocre jokes and bland world-building. In a world of thousands of mystical adventures, The Eternity Elixir fails to shine out. The book comes off as bland and formulaic. What I mean is that the book as plot points that were added to complete some sort of checklist for writing a book. The book is almost written as if it were a cheesy magic movie for kids. And I may be over the intended age group, but I do hope with this feedback that later installments of the series does improve. I have not read the sequels, and hope they fix the issues I had with the first book. I do see this series to have potential, but it lacks creativity besides the idea of potions as the magic. I hope the author reads this, and makes their later books flow better and feel less like a checklist of tropes. The book is decent, but is just lacking in creativity for me to give it more than 2 stars.
