I have never written a review on a movie before but this was, hands down, one of the most atrocious movies I have ever wasted my hard earned money on. The makeup done for the characters was unflattering, amateur, and downright hideous. I spent most of my time wondering why they highlighted the nutcrackers lips so awfully. The movie looked so promising and whimsical in the trailer. Keira knightly was cringe worthy and Clara walked around with ballerina hands the entire time yet didn’t dance for the duration of the movie, except a brief moment in the end. The acting was bad. Really, really bad. I love the world of magic and imagination. This had potential but it was rushed and there was no elaboration of any of the characters except for Clara and even that wasn’t substantial enough to love her. I attempted to make my husband leave the theater after meeting the “nutcracker” ( who should have had a primary role in the film but would barely be considered for a supporting one ) but he thought we should stay to see if anything of interest happened a little later on. It didn’t. We were both highly disappointed.
