I really enjoyed this movie. I read some of the negative ones and I realized what they are saying was essentially the point of the movie. It wasn’t a regular romcom. She has flaws and was very open about them. I liked how the character didn’t hold anything back. She knew when something was over or wasn’t right. I appreciated the movie for what it was. Nothing glossy or overly perfected. Just felt more real and something I either went through or could see myself go through.

Not “laugh out loud” funny. It’s a sad pathetic and uncomfortable “have to lightly chuckle” to break the uncomfortableness. I don’t understand the reviews. This is not a funny movie. Second-hand embarrassment throughout the whole thing. If you’re not going to tell a full story…why bother mentioning things. Like the mom and son’s sick closeness. The mom’s illness and new life. It’s a no from me and my partner that loves all awkward humour.

I watched this AFTER the awards just to see if it would disappoint like every other Oscar winning movie and you know what… I get it. At the end I actually sat there looking at the screen for a few minutes while the credits rolled. Nothing was said in that final scene but man you felt a lot. Going through the roller coaster with her… definitely worth the watch. It’s the alternate version of Pretty Woman. Damn do I have a thing for Igor now. Something about his calmness.

As someone who went through what Valeria went through in season 1, I found this to be very realistic. I liked the growth of each character. I won’t spoil anything so I’ll just say it ended well. It ended knowing each character grew to be the characters they ended up being. And who doesn’t love the backdrop of a beautiful city. For anyone who’s not interested in watching a dubbed show…. IT’S SO WORTH IT! Dubbing has gotten so much better and the lips almost perfectly match. Too many non-American shows are getting ignored. Give it a try! Had to add something. The MUSIC! I gotten a ton of new favourites thanks to this show.

Long story short… nothing happens in the movie. Once she got to her last dance at the end you think “ok, good.. here’s rock bottom… let’s see the rise from the ashes” and then the credits roll. She doesn’t find another job, Jamie Lee Curtis barely holds a job and winds up homeless, the two other girls don’t really do much or learn anything. Her daughter likes her then hates her and likes her again with zero explanation. Half the movie has no dialogue and is just the different women contemplating their lives with Las Vegas as their backdrop and whatever sad song they could add. Most of the scenes are shaky camera angles that are too close for comfort. The movie depicts 5 women having differing meltdowns. Really my biggest takeaway is NOTHING HAPPENS… oh… and there’s no dancing. Seriously golden globes?? Aim higher.

Watched 1 and 2 when it originally came out and finally got around to watching season 3 this weekend when I upgraded my subscription. SPOILER… I’m usually not a fan of the bittersweet ending where they don’t end up together but I appreciated it this time. When I got to the final episode where they are in the chapel I was like FINALLY. Was happy she went back to the new guy. Appreciated their relationship more. Overall good show.

Highly recommend this limited series. It’s basically an extended movie. Really enjoyed it.

5 season 5 stars. Giving a star for each season that was worth watching. Boy am I disappointed in season 5. It felt nothing like the first 3 season… even season 4 started losing the charm that made the first 3 so great. I hated the jumps in time. Why introduce that in the final season? They didn’t do that in any of the 4 seasons. Felt unnecessary because we didn’t learn anything substantial. Nothing was explained or closed off in the final season. There’s a Midge and Susie falling out yet we never see how they reconciled. We see so many things that just gave more questions - and not the hopeful wishful kind.

I enjoyed this movie. Favourite part was when JL screams “Are you dead?!” - there’s something about the way she said it that killed me. The whole thing was fun and legit didn’t see the end coming.
