I was loving this movie right up until the end. I was even forgiving the voice acting not synced because of the dub. The animation was great, and they did a fantastic job encompassing a wide variety of monsters and overall themes present in DQ that I love. The action scenes were also very well thought out. But the Ending did the absolute opposite that I think it was trying to accomplish. Instead of embracing the true feeling that DQ fans would share in this movie, it breaks down any sort of immersion by taking the fourth wall exit. Why. It didn't even need to be there. The story wasn't overly complex- but that's not why I was watching it. Oof.
