This movie is a standard movie. For Marvel it's a tad weak. The weakest part of this movie is the Plot. I feel like there is a lot of plot holes considering how Captain marvel gets her powers, through the tesseract energy powering a Core which explodes and seemingly 'infuses' into her DNA, even though she is only human and the same energy in CPT America was used as a weapon, killing people. What her powers actually do, Hollywood has a bad habit of "let's make things powerful looking by making them glowy and chaotic" with no real explanation, one minute she's blowing holes in ships and then she's just "pushing" people away. And the obvious Macguffin which seems to be a new wonder to members of Sheild, along with thinking Captain Marvel was the first hero they encountered, considering it was set up after Captain America went under the ice.
Brie Larson is good in this roll, and there are many funny moments, but there is room to grow of course, some bad script choice though i.e. whoo hooing in the final fight like it was all fun and games and there was no real weight or gravity to it. Of course, it's hard to have any worry when there's an all powerful, unstoppable hero flying about like a glowing nuke.
Without droning on and making this too long, Captain Marvel could have been benched for a while longer. If this is to give Women a leading character in Comic Movies then it was a poor choice to start, dropping Captain Marvel would have left room for other Female Hero's who have been fleshed out to take their well deserved spotlight, instead of shoe-horning an unknown character into the end of a Saga to miraculously save the day and 'steal' the show from prominent fan favourites.
