I feel that this story telling was meant to be understood by the local asian market. I do notice similarity with Filipino story telling. Its much hype is to over dramatized a person's human emotion at just about every scene and not much care about resolving to move the story forward quickly. There's alot of stop and go even during a life and death situation, where you as an audience kinda want to scream at the TV with frustration.
