I’m so sorry I was misled by the summary of this movie. Getting straight to the point, this movie is not about aliens. Some tentacles yes, but definitely not the “Aliens versus humans for the survival of the planet” thriller that you would anticipate it to be. I would have said that it was your typical modern PTSD war movie, but the use of the monsters as a metaphor for conflict in this movie gave it a nudge above the rest.
This movie accurately captures the conflicts (monsters) that arise in war among soldiers and civilians when they intervene. The small ones that disappear into the sand, the huge ones that accumulate the entire skies and the ones that always seem to be roaming around. What is interesting is that the only damage the monsters seem to be doing in the entire movie were having a go at communication devices. I guess reiterating the point that conflicts always result in a break down in communication...I thought that was clever. Overall a great movie, the acting was ok, some scenes at times seem to be drawn out a bit, but i would recommend this movie to anyone with the strictest warning of not reading the summary before viewing.
