The Pick Of Destiny in a video game!
Totally loved this film.
After seeing the previews I was uncertain as the CGI was not what I expected, but I was always going to watch the film anyway, as I'm a Jack Black and Jason Mamoa fan and I'm also an experienced Minecraft player.
So I thought I'll just accept the CGI as it and take the film for what it is. Well that was the best mindset to have, going in to the cinema with no expectations, made the film awesome!
I absolutely loved is, it is a very feel good, funny film, the plot not exactly original, but it didn't matter, as an adult, I thoughery enjoyed this film. And left the cinema with a big grin on my face.
Manmoa's arrested development 80s hair-metal character is so entertaining, while Jack Black's ultra hyper lager than life character (which is just Jack Black, through and through) mesh brilliantly together with a lot of on-screen chemistry and an initial rivalry, steady building bro-mance, leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling at the end of the film.
We are also treated to some of Jack Black's vocal singing mastery and along with the "quest" style, good Vs evil plot, gives this film a Pick Of Destiny, in a video word feeling.
Finally you don't need to have played or understand the Minecraft video game to get and enjoy this film, but some references will be lost on you, but nothing that will detract from the story.
I highly recommend seeing this film as soon as you can, it's both kid and adult friendly, enough maturity to keep the adults engaged and enough brightly coloured fun to keep the kids happy.
