Angel Beats is, without a doubt, the saddest anime I've watched in a while. I am of the belief that music and story are of the utmost importance in really any for of media and to me, it hits the nail on the head. Like many others, I didn't really know what to expect. But then, when they started to show how and why people disappear, it hit me like a truck. For them to move on from this limbo, they need to truly be happy. In a way, it's why I related to Otonashi so much, because he wanted to help his friends be truly happy. He did his best with everyone. The scene(s) that truly broke me though was the graduation and the very ending when you see all the characters disappear. I get emotionally attached to characters very easily and the fact that the characters not only had to see their best friends vanish right before them, it's the fact that we had to watch that happen, as viewers. Angel Beats is an anime I will never forget.
