This is the exact reason why people have abandoned Bollywood that is infamous for churning out average, bad and ugly films mostly, despite being a billion dollar industry and the largest movie factory in the world. If crass movies like Jawan under the garb of being "mass-entertainer" have become the flagship products of this industry, I have no regrets that I stopped following Bollywood a decade back. And all this actually does not come as a surprise when the nation's biggest "superstar" and so-called icon not only has no qualms about promoting deadly cancerous tabacco to his millions of fans but even gets away with it. But what really worries me is the extinction of movie critcs, the genuine ones. They have been replaced by this gigantic PR media machinery that has taken marketing to another ungodly level. A huge swarm of "bollywood reporters" have spawned in the last 5 years whose only job is to help the bollywood make loads of money by promoting and creating hype around even the most distasteful, cringe-worthy and intellectually abysmal films. Have a look at other "reviews" and you'll know what I'm saying. In a country devoid of critical thinking and intelligentsia, one can only hope that may be one day these movies will actually find a place that they truly deserve - the garbage bin.
